An afternoon by the water
Following the river until the city feels a little further away.
A river is a useful guide when you have no map and no appointment. Its bends offer a direction without asking for a decision at every crossing. The path beside it keeps moving between open banks and patches of shade.
On a quiet afternoon, the water carries reflections more clearly than noise. A bridge becomes a long dark line. Clouds gather in the spaces between ripples. Even the ordinary buildings on the opposite bank look softer from here.
I stop where the path widens and sit for a while. A boat passes, followed by a slow wake. There is no impressive view to photograph, only a comfortable place to watch the hours change.
Places like this rarely appear on a list of things to see. They are useful for another reason: they let you stay without needing to do much. Sometimes that is the whole journey.
